1. What is your book about and why did you write it?
The reason I wrote Do You See What I See? was because I have had so many parents and grandparents writing to me telling me that their little one was scared to go to sleep because they could see spirits and they would ask me how to explain it to their children so that they wouldn’t be scared.
So that is what prompted me to write this book, it explains to children that they are special to have this gift of seeing spirit and that they have nothing to be scared about, but most importantly it lets them know that they have the power to tell the spirit to go away and that they will listen to them, that if they don’t want to see them, they can tell them so and that they will leave them alone.
The story is a little girl who sees her grandmother and I do hope that when a parent reads it with their child it then opens up the avenue for them to talk about who their child may be seeing and allowing the child to understand who it may be and learning more about them and that it is nothing to fear.
2. You describe yourself as clairvoyant. What does that mean? And, how accurate is the information you provide people with?
I am actually a clairvoyant medium – a clairvoyant is usually used as a general term for someone that can see future events happening to either the person or someone else, that’s it in a nutshell! A medium is someone who can communicate with those that have passed over.
There are a number of ways that clairvoyant’s can get information and I would suggest people sign up and get my free eBook ‘Are you psychic’ through my website www.katrina-jane.com to learn all the different types of ways that you can get information, just for the record, I use all of them, however not everyone does.
When I do a reading for someone I can see an image that appears in my ‘minds eye’ / third eye or I may be given a word and sometimes, I actually get physical aches and pains. The issue that any clairvoyant has, is that the information we get is correct but how we interpret that information can be incorrect, because as we all know one word in the English language can mean a number of different things depending on the context that it is given.
I will give you an example that has happened to me personally. I was doing a reading for a lovely young lady whose father had died, he came through and I established with her that it was her dad. Then he said to me ‘ask her about the date, there is something about the date’. What the hell do I do with that? That is all the information that I was given, nothing else, not what date or what the ‘something’ was. So, I said to her ‘The one year anniversary of his passing is coming up soon, isn’t it?’ and she said ‘yes’. I then asked her, ‘was there something significant about the day he died, as in someone’s birthday or an anniversary?’ she replied ‘no’. I was then stuck because I just didn’t understand what he was trying to tell me. I said this to her and she said ‘what is he actually saying’ so I repeated the information word for word ‘ask her about the date, there is something about the date’. At this she smiled and said, ‘Today would have been his 60th birthday’. So, the information that I was given was 100% correct, however the direction I took with it, most certainly wasn’t!
Also, something for people to realise is that at the time of the reading it may not make sense, but I have had quite a lot of people say to me, ‘I had a reading with you and it didn’t make sense at the time, however one year later it now all makes sense’. It all boils down to the interpretation of the information that is given.
3. When did you believe you were a clairvoyant and how did you know?
I was actually brought up a strict Seventh-Day Adventist for the first 30 years of my life, I have written a book Christian to Clairvoyant telling the story of how I have ended up becoming a clairvoyant `which goes against everything that I was brought up to believe.
I have been a clairvoyant all of my life, but because of my upbringing I didn’t realise it. What was the real turning point for me was a friend of mind dragged me off to have a reading with a clairvoyant, her name was Lucy and at the end of my reading she turned to me and said ‘you know you’re clairvoyant’ and I replied with ‘no’ and then she proceeded to ask me questions about herself and asked me to answer with the first thing that came into my head. These were questions like ‘what did my childhood home look like’ and ‘what did I used to do for a living before become a clairvoyant’ – she asked me about ten questions and I got them all right. That kind of freaked me out to be honest and she told me to go to a local spiritualist church to help develop my abilities, which I did and now I here I am!!!
4. What is the most helpful or useful piece of information that you have been able to give to someone that he or she used in their life that made a positive impact?
I can only go on the feedback that I have been given, and obviously of the 10’s of thousands of readings that I have done, not everyone lets me know! One instance that has stood out for me was a lovely lass who wanted to meet someone, get married and have children, she actually came for three readings over the course of a year and each time the information was the same, except for the third reading she had where I had to be quite rude to her and say to her – word for word from her spirit guides, ‘You have to get out of your fu***ng lounge room!’ that is exactly what they told me to tell her. Her mother was very controlling and I was told to tell her, you have to get away, go out bush or something and live by yourself for a while, learn to make your own decisions without her judgment, she’s not going to like it but it is something that you have to do.
This lovely lady took what her spirit guides said quite literally, quit her job and moved out to the middle of no-where as a teacher for a year, saved her money because there was nothing to buy, then she asked about travelling overseas and I said she wasn’t to go with family, she had to go in a group but by herself, she did this and travelled to the places that she had always wanted to go, then when she got back I said, ‘you’re about to meet him’ and she did and is in a secure relationship and has had a baby girl, this wasn’t an overnight process but something that happened over about four years. She is now living her dream and I am so very proud of her that she took that advice from her spirit guides to heart and did as was asked of her, otherwise she would still be sitting by herself in her lounge room wondering when Mr Right would walk through the door.
5. Have you ever given anyone information about their life that was not accurate or did not come true? If so, how do you explain that? Or, how do you explain it when authentic clairyoyants give people information about their life that is not accurate or does not come true?
Absolutely! As I mentioned previously, we don’t get given all the information, we get a snippet of something and have to work it out and yes, we can absolutely get it wrong. I would never tell someone that I am 100% accurate, because I’m not, I’m human just like everyone else, even doctors have been known to get it wrong so I actually find it interesting that people seem to think that clairvoyants know everything and never make mistakes, of course we do!
To me the inaccuracy about something current or past is in the interpretation of the information that we have been given and that is our fault not those in the spirit world. When doing a reading I will always ask if it is making sense to them and if not I will then try and get more information to clarify or ask their guides if I should be explaining things in a different way.
In regards to something that doesn’t come true, that is up to the person that is receiving the information whether or not they go down the path that has been given to them or not. To use an example, if I tell someone that they are going to have four children and after two hubby goes and has a vasectomy so that they can’t have any more children, was the information wrong or were they given the opportunity to know what was going to happen and then make the decision to do things differently.
6. How does being clairvoyant relate to free will? For example, if you were to tell someone that something is likely going to happen to them in the future, what role does free will play in your prediction?
When someone has a reading with me one of the first things I say to them that the reading is guidance, the information isn’t set in stone because they have the will to do whatever they want to. If their guides are telling them that they should be studying yet they choose not to, that’s fine, we can each individually do whatever we want to do. If people look at it as guidance and they have the free will to do whatever they like, it’s not quite so scary to have a reading. You don’t have to do what has been recommended for you to do, however the guidance is given to you in your best interests, your spirit guides don’t want to see you fail or be miserable, however the power is within you to make the changes. I also let them know that if something kind of ‘scary’ is given, you’re guides are giving you forewarning so that you can ensure it DOESN’T happen, you can put things in place so it doesn’t have to be. To give you an example, I did a reading for a lady and I said to her that I could see some children wanting to go out in a dingy (a little metal fishing boat) with an adult and I said to her they MUST be wearing children’s lifejackets, don’t let them go in that boat if they don’t have them on. A few months later she emailed me and said that her little grandchildren wanted to go in this particular boat and she remembered the reading and the advice and she put her foot down and said that they were not allowed in unless they were wearing their lifejackets. The boat ended up capsizing and because the children had on their lifejackets they were alright. The consequences of not having their jackets on would have been horrific. But her guides were kind enough to know that this event could be changed and she did.
Freewill is always there, a clairvoyant isn’t to tell you what you must or must not do unless they feel that you are in danger or someone close to you is in danger, yet, you always have the free will to do whatever you want to do. One thing I would like to say is that I do believe that there are certain events in our lives that will take place regardless of what we choose to do that they are set in concrete before we come to this world and that we have chosen to go through them.
Believe me, even though I’m a clairvoyant there are things I’ve been through that I had no idea they were coming because I had to go through them, if we knew something distressing was going to happen in our lives or the lives of a loved one we would do whatever it took to make it not happen and the point is that we have to go through them.
7. How often do you give people advice or information and they don’t follow through on it — and what sort of impact do you believe their lack of follow through has on their life?
This is a difficult one to answer because I don’t know necessarily that someone hasn’t followed through on the guidance that they have been given, unless they actually tell me. I’m sure that it happens quite often become so many people don’t want to get out of their comfort zones, it’s scary to step into the unknown and follow your heart, and I think that this is sad, we should all be living a life that we love living not living in drudgery because that is what society expects of us. As mentioned your guides don’t want to see you miserable, however they nor I can wave a magic wand and make their lives all rosy, it just doesn’t work that way. The impact on their lives I would say would be them not living the life that they could be and that can lead to unhappiness but then they would have no-one to blame for this other than themselves. If someone is too scared to step into the unknown that is okay, but they have to realise that things won’t change for them unless they make the changes themselves.
Sometimes we will still get there in the end but we just seem to be taking the long and winding road to that point! As long as you’re happy with your life and the decision that you make, then that is all that matters as far as I am concerned.
